ODP STARS SHINE!

  • January 8, 2019
It was a very successful weekend for all the Cal South teams at the USYSA Far West ODP Championships. Both LAFC Slammers and Slammers FC represented both the G2004 and G2006 teams who won their respective age groups.
Representing the G2004 team was Taylor Hill, Mia Linville, Espy Logan, and Angelina Moschetti. In pool play, they had wins over Northern Nevada (5-0) and Arizona (6-0). The semi-final was a hard fought 1-0 over Hawaii, the girls toughest test of the weekend. The final was played in poor conditions after heavy rain and the girls ran out 3-1 winners.
Playing with the G2006 team was Leilani Ngo Harris, Jenna Rivera, Kylie Secoda and Chloe Walls. It was a very straight forward pool play with wins over Southern Nevada (4-1), New Mexico (7-0) and Idaho (8-0). The semi-final was also a big statement with a win over Oregon (5-0). The final proved to be the hardest game of the weekend and the game went to the wire, with Cal South coming out on top 1-0 over Hawaii.
Slammers FC ECNL 05 player Tayler Johnson also played in the event, representing ODP in Southern Nevada. They finished first in their pool after two wins over Cal South (3-2) and Idaho (5-0). In the semi-finals, they beat Utah (1-0) but sadly came up a little short in the final following an intense matchup with Arizona where they lost 2-1.
Congratulations to all the players. We are very proud of the way you represented the region, club and yourself over the weekend.
