It was a great way to cap off International Women’s Day as two Slammers and LAFC Slammers alumni helped the USA U20 WNT clinch a CONCACAF title and  place at the World Cup. Jenna Nighswonger (Florida State) was captain and Kennedy Wesley (Stanford)  played a part in giving the US a clean sweep through the tournament.

After going 3-0 in pool play the US dominated St Lucia in the Round 16, winning the game. The Quarter Finals saw them overcome local rivals Canada 4-0 with Kennedy Wesley (pictured celebrating) scoring the third goal in the 54th minute to seal the win. The Semi final saw a rematch from pool play against host nation Dominican Republic. The outcome was the same with the US getting a 6-0 win. Nighswonger also chipped in with an assist in this game as the US silenced the home crowd. The final saw a showdown with rivals Mexico, a team who had two Slammers Alumni too in Destinee Manzo and Gabby Juarez. The US came on top in a 4-1 win.
