It was another proud moment for Slammers FC as alum Christen Press won the 2019 Women’s World Cup this past weekend. Christen, who already had a World Cup and Olympic Gold Medal under her belt, added a second World Cup title as the US overcame Holland 2-0 in the final. It was a great tournament overall, with Christen scoring the opening goal of a 2-1 semi final win over England.
The tournament itself was very inspiring for women’s soccer as a whole, and the impact it made on the women’s game as a whole felt more moving than any previous tournament has. The young Slammers who look up to the USWNT players as role models can be very proud of our very own two time World Cup Champion. Congratulations Christen!!
