U15s Are Back-To-Back National Champions
GERMANTOWN, MARYLAND – It is not easy to repeat. Coming off last year’s U14 National Championship in Redmond, Washington the current U15s knew they would have a target on their back. The U15s finished the regular season with 15 wins – 2 losses – 3 ties including 50 goals for and only 10 goals against.
Coming into late June, they received a top seed for the group stage of the ECNL regional playoffs. They played the group stage to 2 wins and a tie against strong teams including PDA (NJ), CASL (NC), and Crossfire (WA). this was good enough to qualify for the quarterfinals setting up a battle against Concorde Fire. Slammers made handy work of Concorde winning convincingly 5-0.
In spite of the potential pressure of being reigning champions approaching the finals, the Slammers focused on fundamentals in Maryland which was the core to a successful season. They beat both West Coast FC (CA) in the semis and FC Stars of Massachusetts (MA) in the finals with a combined 7 goals for and only 1 against.
Congrats to the whole group for staying focused and continuing to develop.
Back-to-Back Champions Girls!!!
Success is well deserved.
